This statement is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Section 54 requires relevant commercial organisations to publish an annual statement setting out the steps taken to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in their business and supply chains. This statement relates to the Escode group of companies for the relevant financial year.
The Escode group is a UK-headquartered technology group providing secure storage of valuable IP and related services to business customers. Its operations are primarily office-based and professional-services led, with a skilled workforce and a supplier base focused mainly on technology, software, cloud hosting and professional services.
The Escode group’s supply chain is relatively simple and low risk. It consists principally of established providers of software, cloud infrastructure, telecommunications, consultancy, legal and accounting services, recruitment services, office equipment and facilities support. The Escode group does not manufacture goods, operate in labour-intensive production sectors, or materially source from sectors or regions generally associated with elevated modern slavery risk.
The Escode group is committed to conducting business ethically and with respect for human rights. Its approach is supported by employment practices, supplier onboarding controls, whistleblowing policy, legal and compliance oversight, and contractual terms where appropriate. The Escode group expects employees, contractors and suppliers to comply with applicable laws and to act consistently with its standards.
The Escode group assesses the risk of modern slavery in its business and supply chains as low, having regard to the nature of its services, its professional workforce, its supplier base and the jurisdictions in which its key suppliers operate. The Escode group nevertheless recognises that modern slavery risk can exist in any supply chain and takes a proportionate approach to managing that risk.
The Escode group’s due diligence includes proportionate checks on material suppliers, consideration of supplier reputation and operating location, contractual protections where appropriate, and escalation of any concerns identified through business, legal or compliance channels. No modern slavery concerns were identified during the relevant reporting period.
Given the Escode group’s low-risk profile, training and awareness are targeted and proportionate. Relevant employees involved in supplier management, people operations, legal and compliance are expected to understand the indicators of modern slavery risk and the routes for raising concerns.
The Escode group monitors the effectiveness of its approach through supplier onboarding, legal and compliance review, incident reporting channels and periodic review of its risk profile. During the relevant reporting period the Escode group did not identify any confirmed instances of modern slavery or human trafficking in its business or supply chain.
The Escode group will continue to keep its modern slavery risk profile under review and will update its supplier due diligence and employee awareness measures where proportionate to its business and supply chain risk.
